Microsoft’s Small Business Summit Has Lubbock Connection

Microsoft’s second annual Small Business Summit, featuring well-known speakers like Baby Einstein founder Julie Clark and venture capitalist Guy Kawasaki, drew much attention. What you may not know is that Lubbock-based Smooth Fusion is a key player in delivering the Microsoft Small Business Summit.

In both years that Microsoft has hosted the Small Business Summit, Microsoft has relied on Smooth Fusion to build and host the complex Web site required to register and manage the participants in the worldwide event. As one of only a few companies approved to build Web sites for Microsoft, Smooth Fusion is among the most highly-capable web development firms in the country.

What makes the Small Business Summit unique is that it is primarily an online event. Originating from the Microsoft campus in Redmond, Washington, the Summit is “Web-casted” to the computers of those who registered for the free event. Now that the Summit is over, the sessions are available on demand at www.sbsummit.com.

“Even though the site does not have that many pages visible to the user, it is a very involved site. A lot goes on behind the scenes. Literally thousands of hours went into its development,” said Debbie McClure, Vice President of Products and Services at Smooth Fusion.

And it wasn’t just the building of the site that was complex. Making the site available to the users on the Internet was also a big job for Smooth Fusion. Justin Selleck, Director of Network Operations commented that “over a dozen dedicated servers were deployed to serve the Web sites, databases, and monitoring systems.”

While not many Web development projects have the requirements of a high-profile Microsoft initiative, it’s good to know that the same team that delivers results for the most demanding projects is right here in Lubbock to serve the needs of the businesses of West Texas.

Smooth Fusion specializes in Web design, database-driven web development, e-commerce, and search engine marketing. In business for over 6 years, Smooth Fusion has primarily served out-of-state customers. But now Smooth Fusion is seeking to give businesses in this region the benefit of the company’s expertise.

Smooth Fusion’s work is visible on the Web sites of many well-known brands and Fortune 500 companies. Smooth Fusion partners with advertising agencies and corporate clients to deliver some of the best Web sites on the Internet.

Now you can put all that experience to work for your business, whether large or small. If you are ready to have the kind of Web presence that will help you grow your business, let Smooth Fusion guide you through the complexities of obtaining a Web site that professionally represents your company and will be found by Internet users.
